Any plans for building an enclosure for the MK3?
Are there any plans available to properly build an enclosure for the MK3? Best material to use? Leave the PSU out of the enclosure to keep it cooler? Any tips or tricks or links while I wait for my MK3 to arrive on making an enclosure would be great. (Can't you see I am excited) 😉
Thanks,
dave

If you search for "enclosure" in the main forum page you'll get a history on the subject. Newer results are listed below. Use some other key words from these links for new searches.
The dual or even thriple LACK table/Enclosure from IKEA is popular, but I wouldn't step into a store if you were going to pay for everything I wanted....
Here's an post on lengthening the cables.

If you just stick to a simple search you'll see several different options. Now I am using some Bush business furniture for my office and MK3 printer and I'm thinking of modifying them to partially enclose with the other part being the hutch.

Re: Any plans for building an enclosure for the MK3?
The below link is an example of my corner table and hutch I have now for my MK3. It could accommodate two MK3's if needed. I could plumb an exhaust out a window from the hutch and build an enclosure from the hutch down.
I can use the above cabinets to house the filament containers and my plan is to mount an MMU 2.0 in some fashion, not sure yet how I want to do it.

david,
Thanks for the reply and info. That will get me going for now. Plenty of time to read and fabricate stuff while I wait. 😀 I like the triple Lack IKEA idea myself. I built a welding table exhaust fan out of a Craftsman table saw stand once. 😎 Worked great.
Nice corner table hutch.

Another option you might want to consider if you're as handy as I think you are is to use 80/20 or T-Slot Extrusion. There's plenty of places to purchase from and if you go to the https://www.8020.net/ website you can think of many ways to use this stuff.

Thanks for the link. I'll bet I could put some of that to good use. I am a jack of all trades, master of none. 😆 My hobby is "collecting hobbies". 😎 But seriously I have the tools and some skills but this is a new hobby so I still have the questions. 😀
Thanks,

That's a nice suggestion!!
But I had hard time to get the product on time at my address, so I found an alternative from whom I got the 80/20 aluminum extrusion with clear anodize finish.
https://www.raptorsupplies.com/b/80-20 here's the website for reference which might help.

Just get one of these:

2020 frame, polycarbonate panels (yay!), and you can throw more 2020 rails on it to tart it up.

I am pretty sure "receejames" is just a spammer. New user, first post, resurrects an old thread for the sole apparent purpose of posting a link to a commercial website. I reported the post and made a reply to the effect of it being spam, and then my post appears to have been removed. 🤔

Indeed, hehe

I didn't bite, I just like showing off my enclosure and machine! 😉
RE: Any plans for building an enclosure for the MK3?
Same here. I am very pleased with my enclosure, tweaked it a bit to serve my needs, and am happy to share. I am a busy person, and rarely have time for sniffing for thread necromancy. Whatever, anyway. Enclosures are a meaningful and legit topic. Mine keeps the heat in, or out as I choose. And it keeps shop crud off of my printer and prints - my printer lives in a metal fab shop. Dirty place, it is.
And, I have an easy tweak to keep filament dry during a print, important for Nylon and TPU, which I print frequently.

I was bitching about the fact that my initial reply to this thread was removed, but the spammer's post (which I reported) remains.

hehe
justly so
tho the stunning transparency of the enclosure allows so much visible light to escape.
If you applied a film blocking the 622 nm range, man, that would really put it over the top

By sharing a foto of the mazdaspeed 3 cylinderhead in my dishwasher.
an act of efficiency no married man would attempt.
very untrustworthy purveyor of thoughts 😉

RE: Any plans for building an enclosure for the MK3?
After seeing some other posts, with the title is an enclosure worth it, I was thinking more of a cheap and cheerful version of an enclosure that can cover 1 or more +3d printers.
A useful square lengths of wood for sale online is 34mm by 34mm, and 1.8m long, cut to measure,
these can be joined together either with wood work or by printing 3d corner and T connections.
A hole in each side of the joint to allow for a screw would enable the the wood to be held in place.
The Enclosure would sit leaving space round the 3d printer.
Self adhesive magnet strips maybe an alternative to using zips , to create accessible openings in sections of the enclosure,
When adding a fume extractor , some re-enforcing cloth, ( part of an old bag) could be glued to the plastic and then a hold cut through the material to allow for a tube to the fume extractor. At present I have only built this in my head. The enclosure need not be air proof ? as air flow in would be needed for the fume extractor to work.
I am wondering if any one has used the rods from those pop up tents along with their own printed joints to build an enclosure ?
I need to ask the question ? Is there a need to be concerned about how flammable such an enclosure would be ?
To wrap the frame in a strong clear plastic film as used in the canopy of sale boats.
Mainly using 1 inch square 2.4 meter lenghts of wood, Sold as planed wood that is actually 11mm by 10.5 mm . To print out some joints on the 3d printer,
with a hole in the section of the joint where wood is inserted that would enable a small screw to hold it in place.
where a lenght is inserted so
