Z Calibration keeps failing

Hello everyone,

I just finish the assembly of the MK3S and i've got an issue during calibration process... It keeps failing at Z Calibration process.

I need some help !

Here is the video :

I noticed some weird vibration at the end, can it be a lead ?

Thanks for your help !

The dust covers on the Z-Axis motor lead screws must not be tight - loosen them up a few turns.  Also, some people have damaged the T-nuts when installing them (they must be hand spun when placing them on the lead screws, then attached to the X-Axis supports).

And it you have improperly left cable tie ends behind the extruder that can block X-Axis homing.  But your video seems to be okay in that regard.

Also, a few folk have done a full factory reset (RESET with DATA CLEAR option) and gotten the printer to calibrate.

Another check is to look at your statistics: do you have any CRASHES reported?

Try,

on top of the z bearings loosen(a little) the 4 small bolts, then the black top comes loose, move the z  to the top, and then tighten bolts.

Shutdown the printer, move the z axis by hand, is this stuck?

Move the z axis to the top, and do calibration again.

Clean all rods and put oil on them, this needed every few weeks,

if you do not,

you will get errors what are not good visible and it stops.

Search on this forum and google on how to do maintenance and wich oil to use.

That clacking noise during downward move... Are cable zip ties dragging against EINSY enclosure?

As prior posts, check that both Z-screws and nuts move freely to rule out mechanical fault.

Then move on to software causes.

Printer is making only a very brief attempt at upward Z before moving downward. It should be moving all the way up and hitting top z-stops before moving down again. That can be confused firmware.

1. Verify you are on firmware that matches your machine model.

2. Factor reset including clearing all data (Power off, Power on -- immediately press and hold down control knob, let it factor reset and clear all data)

Try again calibration wizard again.

I spent like 3 hours with the support team ( which is amazing ), we put away any mechanical problem and it seems that it is the pinda probe which is failing. Indeed when it nearly touches the bed, it is still at 0.

Thanks for your answer I will get better thanks to those 🙂 !

So what was the problem.  It would be helpful if you also share the solution you found.

I am having similar problem.  I noticed the PINDA does work.  The light on it is on when the probe is away and the light goes off as it gets close to the table.  I have tried different height to no vail.  Slightly higher, the nozzle touches the table, slightly lower, I get that same error as you have shown in the video.

Thanks for any help.
