Y axis self-test fail, bed hits front, motor skips
Bed moves freely to the front, stops when bushing hits frame on left.
My question: Since there are no stop switches on the frame how does the control system know when the bed reaches the end? That seems to be the issue. Thanks.
RE: Y axis self-test fail, bed hits front, motor skips
In a very simplistic explanation: the TMC stepper drivers on the EINSY monitor the currents fed to the motors. A spike in current happens when the bed makes contact. This method also is what allows the EINSY to detect a nozzle crash on X or Y.

Thanks. So does that mean if I have the belt too loose and it is slipping that the current spike is not enough to trigger recognition of the collision?
RE: Y axis self-test fail, bed hits front, motor skips
Crash detection is disabled if STEALTH mode is being used.

Ah - thread title --- does the bed move forward and backwards to both stops? Or just one direction?
Could be a loose belt drive gear. They can sort of work one direction and the slip the other direction. You can hold the bed with your hand during the self test and feel if it is trying both ways and watch the motor shaft and gear. Slipping is easy to see. And yes, can also be the belt hopping over the gear teeth.
