XYZ Calibration failed.

New build of the MK3S and it gets to the XYZ Calibration and fails. It says Bed Calibration point was not found. I've checked everything to make sure all axis move freely and the pulleys don't appear to be slipping at all. I'm using a sheet of paper. Initially the nozzle reached the paper and moved it, so I stopped the calibration and lowered the pinda probe a little. Well, its still failing at the same point. Clearly I'm missing something here.

Re: XYZ Calibration failed.

Verify the PINDA is switching when a screwdriver gets close to the tip (red LED on top should go out).

Then, if the PINDA is working, you need to go back to the manual and follow the PINDA mount instructions. The spacing is very important. The PINDA senses metal at 2mm ... that's about a filament diameter.

Checked the connector on the system board first. Connected correctly and completely. Tried the screw driver test and the LED does go out when screwdriver gets close to the pinda probe.

Tried the calibration again and it failed. Going to redo the pinda setup with the zip tie and see if I can get this thing going. 🙂

Well, after trying all of that and having it fail, I went back to the inital setup with the ziptie. So, I set the pinda using the ziptie, adjusted it down one notch after the calibration failed again and ran the calibration once more. FAILED AGAIN. I can't figure what I'm doing wrong here. Could I have a bad pinda probe?

Re: XYZ Calibration failed.

You can also check for a state change using the LCD menus... that will ensure the connection makes it to the CPU.

It really depends where it fails the XYZ -- I'm assuming it fails after trying to find the first calibration point (the white circles on the heat bed). You aren't by chance trying to do this with the metal sheet on, are you?

Yes, It's failing trying to find the first calibration point. No the metal sheet is not on the build plate.

Re: XYZ Calibration failed.

Does it fail to locate the point? The mechanics are "sort-of" the printer homes, then starts moving out to the first point, then once it finds it, it "homes in" to find the center. Then it moves to the next point, and repeats.

When it has failed for me, I had to lower the PINDA a wee bit. And it's failed when there was a teat of plastic on the nozzle (nozzle really needs to be clean).

If not these, then I'd try chatting with the folks at Prusa. Log into your Prusa shopping account, find the CHAT box, and be patient.

UPDATE. I tried again tonight. Dropped the pinda probe down ONE notch and reran the calibration. Everything passed and I'm now printing the PRUSA Badge as a first print.
