"XYZ calibration failed. Bed calibration point was not found"

I've just finished assembling the printer and the selftest passes.

However, when it comes to calibration I always get

XYZ calibration failed. Bed calibration point was not found

I’ve tried the various suggestions on the forum and your help but I always get the same result.

In particular I’ve adjusted up and down the PINDA sensor. I’m quite sure that nothing is obstructing any movement and I’m quite sure that nothing of the assembly is skewed.

Did you find a solution yet? I am pretty much running into the same problem right now.

Check all end positions that there is no cable or cable tie that blocks the movement. The most common mistake is that you have not correctly laid the cable or that you have not correctly mounted the tire straps.

No, the cables are all right. After lots of tinkering last night, I came to the conclusion that it's probably a misalignment of the nozzle inside the extruder.

Here's why:

  • When auto homing, the light on the pinda turns off.

  • When moving the X axis to the right calibration point, the light stays on, though it does turn off when the heatbed is just moved a little bit up.

  • I cannot move the pinda closed to the heatbed because it would then be closer to it than the actual nozzle.
  • Unless someone has a better theory than that, I'll probably have to disassemble the extruder again. Is there an easier way than doing the assembly steps backwards? All I need to do is realigning the nozzle.

Some images of extruder and nozzle would help us see what's wrong. If you have followed the building description exactly, you will not need to rebuild it. Have you done any Z calibration (Calibration/Calibrate Z)?

Did you ever find out what was wrong? I'm having a similar issue, however i was able to print then re-calibrated and ran into this issue.

When I am doing a Z calibration, I ran into the following things:

  • When using the zip tie calibration first, the Z calibration will run the nozzle into the bed

  • When positioning the PINDA closer to the nozzle, the Z calibration succeeds but the XYZ calibration fails to find the calibration point.

  • When I move the PINDA closed to the hotbed than the nozzle, I can properly calibrate everything but of course printing is not successful aftewards
  • Is there a was to attach images here? Or do I need to upload them elsewhere? What kind of perspective would be most beneficial?

DISCLAIMER: This a MK3 with a Zaribo Kit. However, the extruder is the latest MK3 extruder.

    Non-Working PINDA set up:

    Working PINDA set-up:

Based on all that I've read, the set-up in the first picture should work. And it does, to a certain degree. Selftest is working, bed-leveling is working, z calibration is working and so is auto home. The only thing that isn't working is XYZ calibration, and I am having a hard time understanding why Z calibration has no problem finding the calibration points while XYZ calibration does.

Even when I lower the PINDA it doesn't pass, it passes every other test. The Red LED does what it should when the PINDA is directly over the calibration point, but it still fails. I have no idea why.

It's more then 6months, did you solved the problem? I have the same issue 😣

I have the same problem right now on initial setup, filament sensor is bad so wizard is on hold but live support Simon said I could calibrate xyz the alternate way. My error occurs at cal point #2 before the nozzle even gets close to paper. Have confirmed PINDA is working and ty~raps etc are not touching any where. And BTW the frame skew was checked/corrected during build.

This thread appears stagnant so I will try another while waiting for reply.

Added some "Bling" Ty~Raps" ( must have been touching enclosure) and lowered PINDA .5mm and ran XYZ Cal.

It was successful so I raised PINDA back to 1mm (for Josef), ran cal again and now I'm good to go.

This is my problem too.  Nothing is obstructing anything.  You could show me the photos from boris-p3 and I'd say everything was exactly the same.  If a solution was found for him, it might work for me too.  Tried everything from the on-line guides.  Still stuck.

Solution:  Slide the printhead all the way to the left before starting the calibration.
