X Axis is way too loud?
Just got a Prusa MK3S. Finished building it, and running my first print. The X Axis is very loud; I heard this was a quiet printer.
How do I fix this? You can really hear it 17 sec into the video:
Re: X Axis is way too loud?
Did any balls come out of your bearings? If not, did you add any lubricant to them or use them as is?
If they feel smooth on the shafts, removing the shipping oil and replacing it with PTFE grease (Superlube, as mentioned in the manual) makes them a decent bit quieter.
If they run rough on the shafts, check the shafts for scoring, and contact support. Also try seeing whether the roughness follows the shaft or the bearing by swapping shafts and bearings around; that way you'll get the right replacement component first time.
Re: X Axis is way too loud?
No balls came out. I did not add any lubricant, and the printer didn't come with any lubricant.
Re: X Axis is way too loud?
So I took the printer apart. Sprayed White Lithium in all the bearings... still very noisy.
Re: X Axis is way too loud?
The printer in the video doesn't sound loud; can barely hear it over the print fan whistling on the part.
Have you tried the stealth mode? It quiets the thing down about 6 to 10 dB.
ps: the bearings will love you for adding grease.
