WHERE is the probe??? Need some advice on pre-assembled Mk3
My pre-assembled Mk3 arrived the other day and trying to use it has been a disaster lol. I'm new to 3D printing. I followed the setup instructions in the manual, went to do the first print, and nothing would stick to the powder coated sheet. In the course of (hours) troubleshooting and reading through the manual and the website I ended up running the calibration wizard.
At the part where you're supposed to put a sheet of paper on the bed, the nozzle does make contact with the paper in a few places and moves the paper around. If I hold the paper in place, I can definitely feel the nozzle pressing pretty firmly on the paper, which I think probably should not be?? It doesn't grab the paper on all 4 corners, only two of them.
The manual has lots of places where it refers to "lowering the probe" but I can't see any illustrations of where it is or what it looks like??

Even if you get a pre assembled printer its still worth while at least reading through the assembly manual.
The probe is the PINDA probe and its located on the right hand side of the extruder assembly. The exterior is threaded and by loosening the screw on the collar mount it can be adjusted for height.
Seriously just read the assembly guide and you will have a much better understanding of how your printer goes together.

@neophyl
Thank you. I never thought to go through the assembly instructions. I did as you suggested and found the probe/sensor, looks like a small white eraser head protruding down.
Thanks again.

And small moves ... everything PINDA related is in hundredths of mm. Initial height should be 1.2 mm above the nozzle. But anywhere between 0.8 mm and 1.2 mm above the nozzle works reasonably well. Some folk like it lower (0.8 mm), but it increases the risk of part collisions (especially with stray bits of extrusion that are common in printing).

@tim-m30
Thank you good to know.
Before I proceed with adjusting the sensor, DO I need to be concerned that it is moving the paper in those two places?

I’dat least heck if screws that hold heatbed to Y carriage are properly tightened in those corners. If you are concerned with nozzle catching the paper, lower the PINDA probe tiny bit, thus raising the nozzle, and re-run the calibration. Later when you put metal sheet on bed, probe will detect the metal and keep its position above the surface (it’s an induction probe, reacting to metal).
