What does your hot end look like? It might be dragging. Does this flaw show only in that area? I had to readjust my platform that the heating bed sits on because PLA wouldn't stick to one small section. Since I can't post I just purchased another printing bed. If you can't see anything on the hotend, the bed is level from your menu settings, then consider looking that metal sheet. You might flip it over and see if anything else happens in the same area. Considering how good the rest of it looks it doesn't appear to be a first layer issue.

1) The extruder nozzle looks normal. No "gunk" or excess PLA or anything on it. It has a very small/touch of melted filament - but it looks normal.

2) The rest of the first layer, in my "un-expert" opinion looks good.  Maybe not perfect, but very good. Nothing else is popped up, or bubbled or anything.

So perhaps there's a certain "spot" on the metal sheet that has something on it? 

Could it be a bad section of PLA on the spool?

Should I just start over, or can this be salvaged?????

That first layer is not good. I can see gaps between the lines. With a properly dialled in first layer it would look like a solid sheet. Have you used the Jeff Jordan life adjust method to set your live z offset ?

Clean bed with dish soap, do this every few prints, between use alcohol, but with small or big flat prints use dish soap, then you have the best sticking possible. if you change from pla to petg (change filament) also use dish soap.

In the settings of your printer, use 7x7 calibration.

How to do a first layer calibration? first layer calibration should be 100%, it helps a lot with sticking to the bed(a lot).
