u-bolts hitting frame during assembly
Can someone tell me what I might be doing / did wrong? Besides dropping my rod during the making of this video?
My u-bolts are hitting the frame.
I realize I didn't zip-tie them down yet? Could this be the problem?
Turn on your volume to hear when they are hitting.
Re: u-bolts hitting frame during assembly
Only thing I can think of is if the bearings are not centered in the cutouts and one end is sitting lower. Hard to tell from your video.
Re: u-bolts hitting frame during assembly
The U-bolts are located very close to the center frame. If I push down the bed with my hand, the U-bolts collide with the frame.
What you can do is loosen the screws to the body, push down the center frame and screw the body back together.
There is a small gap in the screw holes, and you have probably fallen on the wrong side of the tolerance when you mounted the frame.

Re: u-bolts hitting frame during assembly
I checked everything a bunch of times... pulled the bolts out more times than I care to do.
The end solution was to take a file to the u-bolts and make them a little shorter.
I have a hard time believing that no one else has run into this problem if the clearances are that minimum.
A small change in the frame would fix this. I suppose I'm a little disappointed at the wasted time I put in.
