Too big dimensions in Z axis

Hello 🙂 ,

I have made and printed several test cubes just to check print dimensions. In X and Y axis I get very accurate results, deviation only+0,07mm. But in Z axis it is always +0,3mm, for cubes 20mm and 15mm.

I have already tried to recalibrate printer and calibrate first layer. I have 0,2mm first layer.

I sliced the cubes in Slic3r with standard 0,15mm OPTIMAL MK3 settings.

What can be wrong ❓

RE: Too big dimensions in Z axis

I want to re-open this question 🙂
I have the same problem. I'm printing simple but thin objects, and the results are always 0,2 or 0,3 mm higher on the Z axis.

I did the same as Marcin, re-calibrating everything and I'm using Slic3r with OPTIMAL 0,15 mm settings as well.

Any ideas?

RE: Too big dimensions in Z axis

I think it's a math related issue 😀

Imagine having a 40 mm high object that is printed with 0.4mm layer height and 0.2mm first layer height. The last layer will basically add 0.2mm on top of your object.

The fix is to properly design your part or adapt the printing settings if you need accuracy.

Cheers
