TMC drive overtemp durin calibration process
Hi All,
I've bought a MK3S Prusa kit 3 months ago but I could achieve assembling it only during my Christmas break.
Everything was going great until calibration process. The printed achieved X, Y and Z axis calibrations as well those linked to PINDA sensor. I was then doing the FIRST LAYER CALIBRATION (par. 6.3.9) when the LCD displayed this message :
TMC DRIVER OVERTEMP
I had a look on Knowledgebase and it seems to be a major problem with motherboard 🙁
What can I possibly verify ? I already check what was suggested in knowledgebase ?
You'll find the video of switching on process on my MK3S there :

As you can observe, the printer displays the error message shortly after the power switch is put ON.
I can provide more informations/photos/videos if needed.
Happy New Year ans Happy Printing to all !
RE: TMC drive overtemp durin calibration process
I had a look at the knowledge base.
Have you re installed the firmware to see if that helps?
As the error shows right after power on, I wouldn't think it is really a high temp problem.
The last step in the KB looks like the next to check after the firmware.
After power on the left fan normally spins for a few seconds. Does your do that?
Have you checked the all connections to the einsy board? Maybe a bend pin in one of the connectors that creates a short. Or pinched cable.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I didnt change the firmware. I'm newbie to Prusa printer so I wonder how and if it is possible to do this since the displaying message apprears shortly after power on. Still I've managed to get firmware version : 3.9.0-3421 (see new photos posted on gdrive). Are you able to tell which firmware version is known to be stable ?
After power on both fans spin on as well (as it can be seen on new video I pushed on gdrive)
I'll double check all connectors later this day. I opened the einsy board box and on a first look I didn't see any choking situation...
Again thanks for your help, I've contacted Prusa support but still waiting for a response...
RE: TMC drive overtemp durin calibration process
I tried to flash the printer. I had an error 🙁 This is the produced log. It says the verification process failed (whole log on GDRIVE)
avrdude-slic3r: verifying ...
avrdude-slic3r: verification error, first mismatch at byte 0x0000
0xa0 != 0xa5
avrdude-slic3r: verification error; content mismatch
avrdude-slic3r done. Thank you.
RE: TMC drive overtemp durin calibration process
Eventually I was able to flash the printer with 3.9.2 firmware with a second try. It didn't eliminate the problem 🙁
RE: TMC drive overtemp durin calibration process
I was able to get online support. The EINSY board has to be returned to Prusa...
The thing I hope is that it was not coming from my assembly. It was working fine during the calibration of X Y and Z axis, I was happy to see my assembled Prusa working. Then, close to the end of calibration process, it goes wrong. I hope it's only a bad luck. The support said :
It may be a little short laying within the board's circuit, it is a good practice to wear anti-static gloves when handling chips and boards like that but other causes may have caused a similar issue too : it simply is not always possible to identify a problem like that remotely in a sure way
