So today I had 2 main goals:
1. Design something using a 3D application (I'm completely new to 3D design)
2. Print the above design in 2 colours.
I did try FreeCAD a little while ago but found that I preferred the more visual design style, and Shapr3D seemed to be easy enough for me to use. Hence was able to get an EDU license (I work in education) and started on my Mac... decided just to go with a simple name plate for my daughters bedroom door!!
Took it through the slicer and added a second colour. Came out great! I did mess up with the actual name though - it seems I rotated it slightly in Sharp3D so its slightly higher on the top then it is on the bottom, hence a more staggered like print on the letters rather then a smooth flat finish.... lesson learnt!
I know this is very basic - probably play school type stuff to some of you guys! - but I was pretty chuffed at the process and being able to complete it within a short time frame. Now to get designing something a little more challenging!!
