Super Pinda adjustment and height readjustment request from the printer during Z Calibration
Hi, at the last step to upgrade from i3MK3S to MK3S+, I followed the steps in the following guide to adjust the Super Pinda. I had a piece of A4 paper in between the nozzle and the heat bed to avoid scratching.
https://help.prusa3d.com/en/guide/9-preflight-check_36224
Then, I performed a Z Calibration. At the 4th calibration point, the process stopped waiting for me to readjust the height. I tried this with and without a piece of paper four times but always have this error at the 4th calibration point.
1. In Z Calibration, am I supposed to only use the heat bed? Will it be OK to have a piece of paper on top of the bed to avoid scratching?
2. Is the error due to a bad job in leveling the super pinda?
3. Any good way to do it besides the zip tie approach? Obviously it does not work well.
RE: Super Pinda adjustment and height readjustment request from the printer during Z Calibration
always have this error at the 4th calibration point.
3 Possibilities:
Wrong PINDA height
Distorted bed (often bed fixings too tight, especially if you have the 'U' bolt type)
Bad calibration point (contact Prusa)

Use paper as in the video. Mesh bed levelling and live (first layer) Z are done with a steel sheet in place.
2. Is the error due to a bad job in leveling the super pinda?
This is the most likely, especially if the printer was working previously. The other two causes mosly affect new-builds.
3. Any good way to do it besides the zip tie approach? Obviously it does not work well.
A recent credit card is close enough. Old style cards with no chip may be too thin.
Cheerio,

Cheerio,
Thanks.
Which video are you talking about? Any link?
I upgraded to i3MK3S+ so bolt-type mount is not used to mount the heat bed.
Yes, I was able to use the i3MK3S but after upgrading to 3S+ with the new Pinda, I cannot get it to print yet.
I contacted Prusa and the guy kept asking me to follow the steps in:

You've linked to it twice now...

It's still possible to mess up, just a lot harder - if the Y carriage moves smoothly you're probably OK.
Watch the video, go through Super PINDA 'Z' calibration carefully; try the credit card, and let us know the result.
Cheerio,

I used a store membership card instead of a zip tie. Also, took out the superpinda and inserted it to the holder again. The error is gone.
During Z calibration, I had to tune to about -2.3 for the filament to stick to the textured sheet. I was told that the value is too negative. I recall that at least when I was using the i3MK3S, it was around -1 to -1.6. What went wrong?

Excellent. We are on the right track. We now know the Super PINDA is working and connected OK...

...but you picked a card from the wrong store. You want a live Z value somewhere between -0.75 and -2 and you do it by trying different thickness cards until you get there.

Thanks. When I did the XYZ Calibration, it failed again. Is your SUPER PINDA perfectly straight from end to end?

OK, so you have one card that passes the calibration but is not quite the required thickness and another that doesn't pass: you should be able to iterate from here.
Untested Idea: Use a stack of playing cards; add and subtract cards until you get into the zone.
What is the zone? I have just measured an official Prusa zip-tie, it is 1.08mm thick.

I don't understand the question, the Super PINDA should look like this:
RE: Super Pinda adjustment and height readjustment request from the printer during Z Calibration
Playing cards make a great thickness gauge. They are almost exactly 0.01 inches thick. Business cards are very similar.
New comment for those who come after.
If you like to be precise, measure a deck and divide by 52.
