[SOLVED] X axis grinding noise
Hi There,
New kit build - on first print 1st layer was beautiful, then when it got to the fast infill on second layer it shifted a few times with occasional clunks, Checked the Pulley on x axis motor which was fine and tight, so I presumed the x axis belt was slipping, ( belt tension was 274) so i tightened it, 2nd print was the same or worse, belt is now tight (202), still shifted and short grinding sound from x axis, I tried slowing down the print to 50%, this only seemed to make it worse, horrible grinding noises.
see vid
Anyone any recommendations?
Thanks in advance, Mark

Fix your youtube link... doesn't specify a video.
Re: X axis grinding noise
Oh, Thanks , fixed that link now, I have tried the same print now with the belt significantly looser, same noise, x axis motor seems to stall - when its making the grinding noise I can turn the motor by the pulley with practically no resistance - when it corrects itself, it turns again well with full torque, belt is now very loose, but not slipping during the grinding noise, nor is the pulley slipping. Its almost like the motor is getting stuck between steps , Confused.
EDIT: SOLVED, The x axis motor connection to the Board was not tight. reseating properly solved this.
Thanks,
M

He pushed the cable connection for the X-axis stepper motor more firmly into its socket on the Einsy board
RE: [SOLVED] X axis grinding noise
Wow, SUPER grateful that you came on and shared your fix. I was about ready to replace the Y-axis motor, confident that I'd pulled the cables out of the motor and damaged the connection there, and lo and behold, I opened up the Einsy and that little bugger connector was completely jiggly. Clicked er' back in, and I think I should be good to go now. THANK YOU!
