Sides slanting down

I built a mk3 a few weeks ago and have been getting great prints so far. I've started using PETG and have been going through the live z calibration to get everything dialed in. I used https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2547473 as my calibration print and using the same live z value for PLA I'm getting perfect squares on the front, back, and center of the build platform but the two sides it seems a little high and is resulting in infill lines that don't merge together. Isn't this exactly what the mesh bed leveling is designed to prevent and is there something I can do to get even prints across the entire bed?

yes, but the pinda probe is FAR from perfect and there is still the possibility of having a small high or low zone between measurement points. You can use the mesh correction menu under calibration to adjust each side individually, start with -2 or -3 on left/right and go from there.

mesh bed leveling can do only as much. Have you tried using Octoprint and the plugin to visualize the bed? It's a great tool to measure and see how is your bed. If variance is too big then you might need to do some adjustments.

Thanks for the advice. I'll give octoprint a shot with visualizing the current mesh leveling and work on getting it more even.

I have a very steep consistent slant down from the left to the right as shown by the plugin. I saw earlier in the thread that someone else had a similar experience and that the suggestion was to make sure that the Y axis rods are secured and the holders are secured evenly. As far as I can tell they are but still have about a 0.6 difference in height. Looking for additional steps I can take to bring this down. There's clearly something that's causing the slope but not sure where else to look.

joe,

Not clear to me if you tried raising the right y holders or lowering the left y holders? I started with a variance 0f 0.3 and ended with 0.15. If playing with the y holders is not enough then I you may want to consider using things like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B45Y37D/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A212Q8MWH0A8U7 that many people used (also in Discord channel) with excellent results (~0.003). :ugeek:

How do you raise or lower the holders? They're held in place with screws and don't go up or down. I know I can use those springs but from what I was reading in other threads it seems like the variance of 0.65 is REALLY off to the point where it's worth fixing that more first.

I would suggest that you search for root cause. There are three possibilities, first more likely that your X axe is not well aligned, second that slant comes from Y axes or third that PINDA probe does not report correctly.
For X axes do the Z calibration and verify that X carriage is aligned correctly when it touches up of the frame.
For Y carriage, I will start first by unscrewing the bed screws and carefully tighten them in order as described in assembly manual. When doing it go in the small steps (half turn) in diagonal order. Do not over tighten. When you check your bed again and you find there is slant on one side, tighten the screws on that side for quarter of turn.
If you decide to use the springs, keep in mind that the bed geometry changes when warm. Tightening those springs could be a challenge (and you still have not eliminate the root cause).
Next, due the geometry of the printer, 2 z motors could come sligtly misaligned during the print. The good practice is to do Z calibration every 8 hours of print.

Because the ones in the center come out perfect. It's only on the sides where I get that behavior. I assume the extrusion is consistent across the build platform and the build platform is definitely slanting down according the the data the P.I.N.D.A. probe is sending back.

@Nenad I verified that the x axis is fine. I just re-ran the wizard a couple days ago and re-ran the z calibration today with no issues. I'll give pulling the bed off and re-attaching it a try.
