Self test fan error
Hello,
The self test fails due to fan error:
The first fan test passes, but when the second test is performed it asks me whether the fan is spinning or not, to which I say yes (I am able to see it spinning - this is the fan that looks like a snail and connected to the shroud) then it says fan error. If I say no (the fan is not spinning) to it first, then say yes it ends successfully but if I say no right from the get-go it gives me a fan's swapped' message. I checked my wiring is correct twice. If I reverse wiring on the motherboard, the same thing happens but the error happens with the other fan.
To fool it, I first say no (it is not spinning) followed by "yes" to confirm that it is spinning.
What could be wrong?
Thanks!
RE: Self test fan error
This is what appears on the front panel during self-test:
Extruder fan [ok] - the noctua fan to the left of the extruder starts spinning
Print fan ("snail fan" starts spinning very fast) then about 10 seconds later it asks 'left hotend fan spinning?
I say 'spinning', then get a 'selftest error! please check: front/left fans swapped'
Thanks!
RE: Self test fan error
Easy to test: swap the fan plugs in the EINSY case and re-run the self test.
RE: Self test fan error
Swapping cables gets me the same message only for the reversed cables. I looked it up on the forums here and stumbled on some older threads indicating a firmware bug. (all good I guess, fans are spinning after all)
RE: Self test fan error
What version FW are you using?

What version FW are you using?
The one dated in April 2019 (april fools?)
RE: Self test fan error
If I recall correctly, it asks twice, but each time about a different fan. That's why the answer needs to be different. The printer is checking whether it's spinning the right fan - it can't check that based on RPM readout alone, it needs the user to see it with their eyes. Are you sure you're reading the questions on the LCD correctly?

Per your message:

You answered "spinning" when you should have said no. The snail fan is not the "left hotend fan".

Ah, I see. That is an interesting approach to detect fan movement, looks like I was indeed interpreting prompts incorrectly as vojtech suggested.
Thanks!
