Prusa PETG - Print Not Sticking
Hi all,
I am trying to print with PETG. My initial prints yesterday were sticking to the print bed but now everything seems to not be. I have tried adjusting the print speed by lowering it and increasing the temperature of the nozzle and print bed but this did not seem to help.
Additionally, my first extrusions seem to have some ribbing/microblobbing. Does anyone know why/how can I fix this?
I am using GIANTARM PETG.
I have included my print settings in the album and image of said ribbing/microblobbing.
Thanks all.
RE: Prusa PETG - Print Not Sticking
In looking at the print you are trying, I have a few suggestions. That print has a very small footprint, as in the small area of the contact with the build plate.
1. Make sure that your build plate is spotlessly clean. It does not look dirty in the photos, but it's critical with small-footprint prints. I won't admonish you to 'clean your plate and clean it my way' but be sure it is truly clean.
2. Be sure that your Z calibration is spot on. You might repeat it with the filament that you are using. I have a feeling from looking at the lack of adhesion that your live Z may be a bit too high.
3. Use a brim to give more first layer surface area to the print.
4. Don't be afraid to use an adhesion booster. Glue stick or something like Layerneer/Magigoo. Layerneer really helps with small footprint prints.
RE: Prusa PETG - Print Not Sticking
Whilst probably not necessary, when I started out I found I had issues with PETG not sticking as well... even with a clean build plate. I found switching to using a textured plate for PETG solved all my issues. I only use the smooth sheet now for PLA. Textured sheet for PETG.
This is not to say that PETG won't stick to the smooth sheet... though I've never gone back to try it once I got it working with the textured sheet.
