[Solved] PRUSA badge bobs

PRUSA badge bobs

Hi,

Got everything put together, think I finally got things to stick and printed the Prusa badge.

It looks ok, but I have a question.   Are the letter suppose to have the little blobs on them?  (see pic)

If yes, then cool.    If not, what is causing it?

Those are caused by wiping. You can disable the setting.

Looks like a good print. Check the underside for your Live-Z adjustment.

I just printed the badge as my first print and had the same issue!  After poking around I tried belt tightening, bearing loosening, and finally narrowed down the issue to over-extrusion.

Adjusting the "flow" in the the "tweaks" menu _during a print_ seems to fix the issue for this print: I set the flow to 75 and got a logo with no last-layer blobs.

Not sure if there is a mechanical fix (tried tightening the extrusion idler tension screw on some advice but no noticeable effect).

you should not need to go down as far as 75% flow.

 

For layer heights above 0.075mm the custom Gcode in Prusa Slicer, revises the flow to 95%

I usually find that reducing flow to 90% sorts that issue out. 
Other  factors that can cause the same issue are 

1, Actual filament diameter bigger than the value set in prusa slicer --- If Prusa slicer is set to 1.75mm   but the filament is actually 1.8mm then you will get over extrusion issues. 

2,  Extrusion multiplier greater than 1   (Flexible filaments often have the extrusion multiplier set to greater than 1, because they compress when driven by the extruder gears.)       (Extrusion multiplier and Flow have similar effects but are active in different parts of your setup. extrusion multiplier can only me changed in the slicer program,  Flow can only be changed in the printer LCD menu, or using a G code command(which causes the firmware to action the revised flow rate))

Thank you for the info. In my case I was using Prusament PLA silver and the default gcode for the logo.

75% indeed led to under-extrusion; setting "tweaks" to 90% from 95% during the print does seem to help; do you just do this step on every print, or is there a way to control the default?  Now that I'm on to slicing my own models I just make sure to adjust the Extrusion Multiplier in the slicer settings (currently to 0.9) and that seems to also eliminate over extrusion.
