Printer Confused Where Home Is.....

Hi,

For some reason, my printer is confused where home is.   See pic below, where it thinks home is.

I "thought" if you choose the auto home option from the menu, it should move the extruder to the front left corner  (as you stand in front of the printer).............is that true?

What would cause it not to know where home is?

Thanks

RE: Printer Confused Where Home Is.....

It detects home by motor current increasing.  Same technique for both ends. It moves left and when the current goes above its set threshold it ‘knows’ it’s got to the side. However if you have any friction in your bearings the motor can draw enough current to make it think it’s got all the way to the side. The other cause is some physical obstruction that also causes the current to spike. That physical obstruction can be a tie wrap or excessive rigidity to your cable bundle wrap. However if it’s been working previously then it’s not likely to be the wrap.
Basically, failed homing is one of the signs that your bearings need lubrication.
