PETG won't adhere to double side textured PEI Steel sheet
So I've been printing with the smooth steel sheets for a while. I picked up one of the double-sided Powder-coated Steel sheets and decided to try it out. I redid my initial Z calibration (-0.85 for flat, -1.1 for Powder-coated steel) and then proceeded to print the standard Gear STL with a PETG Prusement profile. The entire thing pealed off about 1/8th into the print run. The bottom was bowed and just a glob was guiding around stuck to the print head. I did a 10 minute "preheat" to be sure temps were stable before starting. The flat steel bed works fine but the powder coat not so fine. Any thoughts would be welcome.

There are a lot of posts about build plate adhesion and how to correctly clean a powder-coated sheet. Just use the search.

@lichtjaeger-- I'm having the same problem, and the thing is, this question now comes up as the second hit when I use google. Given that this problem seems to be pretty endemic to the sheets, can you maybe point to a canonical answer? The one I've found is this:
However, I'm not sure if that's the "right" answer. I don't know, for instance, if there's wisdom to using an enclosure to ensure better adhesion by keeping more heat around the print, or if I really need to use 0000 steel wool on something (which seems odd, why should I have to do that with something that's supposed to be completely new?).

My experience is that PETg (and ABS) tend to, if anything, stick better than needed and the challenge, for me, anyway, has been a clean removal.
I almost always use a release agent with PETg (and ABS) such as a THIN layer of glue stick or, more recently, Layerneer. These double as adhesion boosters and release agents.

@jsw-- is that on the textured sheet, or on the smooth sheet?

Despite buying a ready built Mini, I couldn’t set the nozzle low enough to get the PETG to adhere to the textured sheet. I had to raise the PINDA sensor about 0.3mm so I could get the nozzle low enough to work. Once I had done this, and done the first layer calibration so that the little square printed as a continuous film, rather than individual strings, then I got great adhesion and great prints. It seems that some minis are leaving the factory incorrectly calibrated for the textured sheet. You can’t get the nozzle low enough because the PINDA sensor is set too low at the factory.
