PET Crash...
So I had some issues with my latest print and I'm wondering what advice you all have for next steps.
Basically, there is a giant ball of solidified material around the hot end, mostly below the extruder cooling fins. I know I'll need to reprint the part cooling fan and probably some other components. I believe those are located somewhere on this site? Admittedly haven't looked yet, but I will find them. Next, I probably need a new hot end, nozzle, heater and thermister. Your help is appreciated! We were trying to get the Covid-19 masks going and first stack, this happened overnight 🙁
RE: PET Crash...
Normally this happens if the models comes loose.
Often this is because of not clean bed, clean with dish soap.
And always check the beginning of the print, first layer, this must be perfect, then after a while check again(1 our, 2 our).
Now i see the picture, could it not be possible to make a switch on fanduct, or near nozzle, so the printer could stop and ask if everything is OK.
Try to heat the extruder and pull of the filament, or with a paint burner, but do not use a lot of heat.
RE: PET Crash...
Some follow up information, I found where I can get a new hot end (the bottom is fully encased) and it appears there is the entire printer available for re-printing if necessary. I'd love to get the MK3 to MK3s upgrade kit (we have an MK3) but I don't know that I can wait the 2-3 weeks right now. I disassembled as much of the head as I could and I think I can get all the hardware out with some work.
I've encased a hot end with PLA before... it's not fun to try to get it all off and there is a lot more work than the $50 it costs to replace the hot end. I may try to get it out later to have some back up items.
