Newbie needs help! Can't even start the self-test

I'm getting a message saying "Please check the IR sensor connection.  Unload filament if present." There is no filament loaded and the wires for the IR sensor seem plugged in to me.  How do I proceed to fix this error?  Thanks

First check: Disable the sensor temporarily (LCD menu) does it print now?

If so you probably have a bad connection or the outside chance of a failed component.

thanks for the suggestion.  The problem turned out to be a loose connector to the main board of the filament sensor.

I got the same issue here. Can you describe in more detail what the problem was? Didn't you connect the IR sensor on the mainboard properly or was something broken on the sensor itself? Thanks a lot!

In the end, it turned out that I had a bad motherboard.  I had to go through a troubleshooting process with a support person.  Took weeks to resolve.

You can test it using this: https://help.prusa3d.com/en/article/p-i-n-d-a-superpinda-sensor-testing_2091

I suggest you connect with the tech support at Prusa if you have checked the sensor and connections and all seems well.  From what I can see there is a QA problem at Prusa.  They need to test their kit equipment more thoroughly perhaps.

I can say that once working, this is a very excellent printer.  Solid machine, good quality prints.  The assembly is a nightmare.

It can be caused in several ways  First disable the sensor and test print.

I'm having the same problem.  The setup guide gives me the error you stated above.  I have check the connection at the sensor. I have dismounted the sensor. I have checked the connection at the motherboard.  I initially found it not plugged in (I think it came unplugged as I was wrangling the wires and I didn't notice).  I plugged it in and started the system up again but keep getting the same error.  WealthyChef, how did you contact a support person?
