New to printing PETG

Hello all:

I am trying to set up to print PETG, I have been printing PLA for several months with no issues.
I have tried adjusting temps HotEnd and bed.

I have slowed print speed all the way down to 75% and up to 110%.

Increased flow rate from 80 to 110

Thanks in advance
Randall

Very important: textured (or satin) print sheet should be used for PETG.
Make sure filament is dry.. don't say you just opened the spool -dry it.
Result must look much better than you show on your video, at default PETG settings.
How's your first layer calibration result?

Hello

I printed this a couple weeks ago...

BUT now all I can get is...

First layer calibration starts good but is not consistent.

I have cleaned everything, installed a new hardened nozzle a new silicone boot.

I  tried to dry the filaments but found my oven will not go down to 150F best I am getting is 200F
So I guess I will have to buy something to dry them...

Thanks for your input!
Best Regards
Randall

I agree, a regular oven isn't good for this task. You better get a food dehydrator or a dedicated filament drier.

Consider that 200F(93C)  is way too high, not only for PLA or PETg but even for Nylon or PC.

150F(65C) would be OK for PETg  but with PLA you shouldn't go above 130F.

I use the smooth plate regularly with PETg with no issues.

PETG Prints great PEI.

I own Several of each type of plate and have been printing on PEI for years, If anything PETG sticks to well to the Smooth PEI sheet and I spray a Squirt of Original Windex glass cleaner on them so I can release the print without damaging my PEI.

If you really can't get your PETG to stick you may want to consider cleaning your PEI sheet with soap and water, then use Windex, or even, believe it or not (oils from your skin) as a release. If you make a mistake and stick the PETG to the sheet to well, let it cool completely, if it still won't release put it in the freezer, but only for 15 or 20 min then take it out and let it warm a bit and try again, and if that doesn't work you can try boiling water 100C (yes the print will deform but it will come off.

Update:

OK, I purchased a filament dryer, and dried two rolls different color to test.
They dried at 50c for 6 hours.
More or less I have the same issues.
First layer calibration results attached.
All at default Prusa settings.

Thanks
