New kit build not detecting filament

I have just completed the printer build.

All seems ok except for the filament loading.

Autoload does not work, manual load works but it does not seem to know the filament is loaded.

I have  checked the IR board is in place and that the lever is moving in and out when i insert a filament.

Have also checked that the IR sensor plug is on the bottom row with the two wires red & black to the right.

I have used a multi-meter to try to read the 5V at both end of the connection but I am reading 0v at both ends.

This led me to check the three plug in fuses and they are fine.

Can you help please?

Regards Gordon

I would guess you have either your magnets in wrong or your sensor is bad.  Remove the top of the sensor cover and look down as you insert a piece of filament (prusa turn off).  The filament should move the ball bearing.  If it does not, the magnets are likely in with the wrong polarity at each end.

Thank Charles

But no magnets ok but the screw was too tight holding the ir sensor pcb to warp slightly loosened and now ok.

Thanks.

@gordon

No magnets?  You must have an old version.  The MK3 had an IR sensor and the MK3s has magnets and a physical sensor.
