Mysterious small set screw fell out during Initial first layer calibration

Hi all.

I was performing my first time setup and a small set screw (?) fell out as the it started extruding for the first time. It was sucked onto the edge of the magnetic print bed. I thought it was from the nearby area so went to pick it up with by hand, but it was very hot and I threw it away on reflex. So, probably from the extruder. Now that I can't find the screw, does anyone know where it's possibly from and what it's for?

It was about 5mm long and looked similar to this:

It looked similar to this

Best Answer by Baklin:

If it was that hot I would expect that it was the crubscrew holding the thermistor in the hotend.

This small crubscrew:

It is in the hole next to the nozzle.

I don't see it on the spare parts bag in the shop. But I have one in my parts box and so I'm sure you should have a spare too. I never ordered any so it must have come with my printer. It is m3x3.

there is a grubscrew in the extruder hobbed gear, M3 x 2mm
and two grubscrews in each X &Y toothed wheel M3 x 3mm, and there is one in the heaterblock holding the thermistor in place... M3 x ?? suspect 3mm

Take your pick!

Regards Joan

@joantabb

Thank you for your reply Joan! After checking according to your message it seems like the one in the heater block fell out, shown in the picture below:

Could you confirm the specs for me? I may have lost the screw. Thank you!

@baklin

Indeed that's missing. I searched through my kit but unfortunately I didn't find one. I'll be looking for a replacement instead. Thank you for helping me!
