MK3S upgrade to IR sensor unable to calibrate
Hello!
I've just upgraded the top of the extruder with the new IR filament sensor (while upgrading to MMU2s) and this shit doesn't want to calibrate.
The IR value move from 0 to 1 intermitently, I've tryied what is explained in the handbook, loosing the 2 M3 screws, moving the chemney to left, IR sensor show 0, but whatever I put in the hole, it stay on 0, so I move the chemney to right, a tiny little bit and then IR sensor value show 0/1/0/1/0/1/0/1...
Anybody got a real pro-tip on this? My printer came from a good one to a useless one....
Re: MK3S upgrade to IR sensor unable to calibrate
Today I upgraded my MK3 to MK3S with the MMU2S, and encounter also the IR filement sensor difficulties.
I noticed that I had to losen the screw which regulates the pressure on the filament also, before I calibrated the IR sensor.
Maybe this will help you?

Re: MK3S upgrade to IR sensor unable to calibrate
I too had the sensor fail after upgrading from MK3 to MK3S. It kept reporting no filament so the print paused for me to insert more filament. I just unloaded the filament, reloaded the same filament and the printer was happy - for a while. Rinse and repeat! I finally disabled the sensor.
My kit was where I printed my own parts. The printer seems to be printing just fine. Maybe better than before, it's too early to tell. Certainly no worst 🙂
The filament that has trouble is a shiny black PETG, EconoFil from Filaments.CA. I haven't tried others yet.
Any updates on this? Is there a troubleshooting procedure?
