MK3 Enclosure Alternatives (other than Lack?)
I'm looking for a good looking, solid cabinet for my MK3. I don't like how wobbly and light the Lack enclosures are... I've seen some custom ones out there- just curious if anyone has, or seen, some really good/cool enclosures that might be better than the lack?
Re: MK3 Enclosure Alternatives (other than Lack?)
There are plenty, but it depends on how much work you are willing to put into it...
this is quite nice: https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/improvements-archive--f85/smart-3d-printing-enclosure-t14378.html
but you could also go straight to the hardware store and just buy some planks/acrylic sheets and make it 100% custom and unique.
Or the other way round "maximum budget" solution: Photo studio tent.
Sure the Lack is not high quality, but what can you expect for 5.99? And due to the low price you can simply give it a shot, even if it is just a temporary solution. Also there are plenty of mods for it (stabilizers, mounts, etc) to make it high quality and unique.
This is a pretty nice build if you are okay with pimping your Lack: https://www.thingiverse.com/make:578168

Re: MK3 Enclosure Alternatives (other than Lack?)
There have been a number of people that are using Network Rack enclosures for their printers. ... for example
https://www.cableorganizer.com/p/erwen-wallmount-enclosures/
Note: There are a lot of options/vendors out there so look around.
They're sturdy, already have hinged doors/panels and ready to mount components internally. Many will have at least 1 vent area, etc.

Re: MK3 Enclosure Alternatives (other than Lack?)
JkSniper one uses 3030 aluminum extrusion.
I really like it and really did my research on it, but I found trying to ordering 3030 very difficult and too costly to import from US to Canada.
Also look at the server cabinets.
I was worried the description says the rails were not removable.
I did contact the manufacture of the one I look at and they said it was removable.

What i ended up going with is this:

Her Ikea design really look polish.
Finding all the correct thing to purchase is a pain.
There is a printer shelve(adjustable for mmu2?) and filament shelve.
I am just having trouble putting the doors on.

You know, as long as you never want to reinstall them any rail is removable with the proper saw... 😉

Re: MK3 Enclosure Alternatives (other than Lack?)
I was just looking at this one. I sent them an email asking about customizing it so I can fit the MMU in there with it. We'll see.
