Re: Left hotend fan? Spinning, Not Spinning? MK3
So I went back to the Dec 19th 3.5.1-1778 firmware and ran the calibration wizard, but this time all is well and the calibration completed successfully.
Thank you Michael, version 3.5.1 works for me as well. The lazy Prusa's development team didn't do a shit to check the problem for at least three weeks they know about it. Just a simple git clicking reveals there was only one update in this procedure since the working version, so it is obvious where to find the error.
If I had invested another hour (or less) to inspect the code, it would be already fixed. But I already wasted 3 hours by this error
and it is much more than the simple calibration had to take.
But just for a fun how the silly fan code looks like (we do not know which fan are we testing, but it is slow, therefore it is the left fan...:D ):
Re: Left hotend fan? Spinning, Not Spinning? MK3
There is no problem with your fan, read carefully what is on the screen. You should confirm how the fans behave.
It looks bewildering, but it is a check that the fans are properly connected.
I made the same mistake and started debugging, but when I read what was on the screen I understood that it was just a new test function.
So just confirm how the fans behave.

Re: Left hotend fan? Spinning, Not Spinning? MK3
Literally all you need to do is answer those two questions accurately. You look at the question, see which fan it's asking you about, then you check what that fan is doing, then you give the answer that matches what the fan is doing while that question is on the screen.
1. The printer asks you what the left fan is doing
2. You look at what the left fan is doing (it should not be spinning)
3. You tell the printer that the left fan is not spinning
4. The printer asks you what the front fan is doing
5. You look at what the front fan is doing (it should be spinning)
6. You tell the printer the front fan is spinning
7. The selftest continues normally
Re: Left hotend fan? Spinning, Not Spinning? MK3
Thank you, I misread the second question - didn't notice the question changed, just assumed it repeats the same question again.
So the firmware is OK, self-test is working. My mistake.:-)
Nevertheless the user experience is not good:
- the test should be renamed to "interactive test" or "assisted test" or just "basic test" or whatever, because it does not reflect the fact, it is not ONLY self-test. Self test asking anything implies some test problem. The question about spinning the fan showed during the fan is actually stopping (therefore it is still spinning while you read the question and you have to answer it is not spinning) does not help
- what is worse is that you actually see that the first fat test is OK and then after checking the second one, there is no OK message, just the question (what more one need to assume something went wrong during the self-test). It should show the OK also to the second fan, wait a second and then ask the question. It would also solve the time-gap while the fan is slowing down
