Keeping Prusa On, motors Z axis current.
Hi there,
I have a question:
How safe it is to keep Pusa Mk3S ON when not printing. I observed that Z-axis motors are warm so I suspect there is some idle current flowing just not to "desynchronize" two motors.
It's a bit not comportable for me to turn on/off PS toggle switch at the back. I'm wondering if it impacts PS/engines lifetime in negative way?

The motors do not consume power when the printer has finished printing. If any motor feels warm, it probably hasn't cooled down after printing.
And like all other electronics, the printer is best turned off if it is not to be used within a few hours.

Depends on your definition of power. The Z axis coils are energized when the printer is on but not printing, to hold location.
Power use is minimal, and nothing to worry about.

Of course, you are right about the Z motors, but I mostly thought of the E motor because some people complain that it can get so hot.
I myself have never thought about the Z motors getting hot and I have never had heat problems (> 45 ° C) on the E motor.
