@cwbullet

Well, I had another brainwave. Take out the silver/grey Prusa PLA filament. Replace it with a cheapo chinese "PLA+" filament.

And guess what...?

It has to be the settings.

It was the filament.

Glad your back in business.

Yet, as @cwbullet suggested, it’s still a bit of an open issue if it was indeed the filament (quite possible) or the settings as applied to that filament.

Anywho, knock on wood that you just had a filament lemon and prints with other filaments will be equally good as these ones.

A massive vote of thanks for everyone who took the time and interest in helping me out. What a fantastic group of kind people. I am currently printing off some more models as I write and I'll keep you posted.

@rb14

Ok.  I mean: it has the be a difference in the filament and it needs altered settings.

Yes I really have no idea. I've previously printed ok with that filament. Of course it's printing things for fun now. Best it's ever been. Perhaps one of the upsides to all this is that it forced me to examine closely each and every step. If only one of the first things had been to change the filament, it might have been resolved earlier! Maybe it's a good thing.

I've attached three pics. One is the errant Prusa-supplied filament, the other is the cheapo chinese filament. The third is the latest print.

Thanks again.
