Heatbed Target Temperature drops to Zero after 5 minutes

Hi there. I am in contact with the Prusa hotline since more than 14 days, but nobody seems able to come up with a solution. I would be happy to hear some of your suggestions. The problem is very simple: Looking at the LCD to check, why my prints do not stick to the heatbed I found, that regularly after 5 minutes the target temperature drops from 60 to 0 and then the heatbed cools down. There are no warnings, all protocolls have been checked, the cable from the EINSY-board to the heatbed has been exchanged (I knew, this would not solve the problem), the fuses are checked, resistance values on all critical points are within the proper range. The problem is: I need this printer to produce parts now and it is useless. If someone has encountered a similar problem or has a useful idea, what else I should check, I am very grateful. Right now I am simply lost with this machine.

Thanks, its what we at least try to do here 🙂  I suspect its a bit like writing, hard to spot your own whoopsies, easier for someone else to spot things from the outside.

I was wondering about the change too.  If its one of the built in filament profiles then you shouldn't be able to save over it as system profiles are not changeable (at least by the user, or without editing some files manually).  Saving a copy is normal once you have made changes.  However with all the updates downloaded from prusa servers etc then its remotely possible for the base ones to have gotten an incorrect value in them.  Its why sometimes you just have to start from a clean slate.

Anyway I'm glad you are back up and printing.

Can you save one of your projects from within Prusa slicer that this happens with. File>save project as. This will save a .3mf file. Take that file, zip it into an archive and attach it to a post here. It must be zipped or the forum won’t allow the file type. A 3mf project file from slicer acts as a snapshot and contains all the settings you are slicing with.

Just want to rule out some things on the software side.

Hi Neophyl. Very happy you take care of a novice.

Seife_gross_einfach

Hope you can read the file. This is the last file I used, but it does not depend on shape or heatbed temperature. In my despair I cranked up the heatbed temperature to 72 degrees, before I realized, that the target temperature drops, when everything looks fine and I am away, thinking, this machine does a good job. Have a good evening, Detlev

I opened up and loaded your profile.  The explanation for your bed going to zero is simple.  You have it set to do that.  Your Prusament PLA profile when loaded differs from the default as Under Filament Settings>Filament>Temperature>Bed you have other layers set to 0.

So it will heat up, print the first layer and as soon as it starts the second layer it will turn off the heat bed.

Why your profile is set to that I don't know.  Did you modify it and save a copy ?  Or it maybe that your configuration directory is faulty.

Personally I would do an export config bundle to back up all the CUSTOM user created profiles to a file.  I would then nuke the config folder completely to make sure it was clean, do a reinstall with a run through of the wizard to select and add the basic non custom printers and filaments and then once its back check the defaults on those look ok.  Once that was determined I would then use File>Import>import config bundle to restore any custom profiles back.

Making backups of your profiles regularly use export config bundle is good practice anyway.

Btw that low a layer height and ironing on is going to be a recipe for extruder clogging so I wish you luck with a successful print.

Many thanks, Neophyl, this was the solution. I do not know, how I became so creative to set the heatbed temperature to "0" by myself. Anyhow, you have a very sharp eye and my printer is happily doing its job at the moment. Can I buy you a coffee or something like that? It was a real support. Have a nice evening, Detlev
