First prints: gaps, uneven extrusion (?) - MK3 kit

I am a newbie to 3D printing, using my first 3D printer (other than ones at the library). I printed the 3DBenchy and Batarang models on the SD card provided by Prusa, but they have some issues with small gaps and uneven extrusion (I think?). Combining general internet research and info in the Prusa manuals, I tweaked some settings and did the prints again. They still have issues, though maybe a bit less noticeable, so I am asking for help. Please see below--these are the second prints after I changed some configs.

* Note: I changed the orientation of the boat for the second print by about 45 degrees thinking it would make a difference...it did not.

Background/what I did already:

- Selftest: all OK
- XYZ calibration: all OK
- First layer calibration: After doing this a few times, set nozzle height to 1 mm
- Heatbed temp: 60
- Nozzle temp: 215 (using generic PLA right now that is max 220--not using the one that came with the kit)
- Print speed: 85%
- Installed latest firmware

Do you have any input as to what I am doing wrong? Thanks!

Hi Irene, did you sort this?

I can't access your pictures, is it possible to use the attach files option below the text box, to attach pictures?

regards Joan
