first layer issue

I'm a bit sad, i have sucessfully print a long print over the weekend, everything looks good. I launch an other print and it failed mid way : layer shifting etc....

I redo the calibration, all my axis are perpendicular everything is fine here.

I do the first layer and i can't like the first time have a nice layer : here's what i got and not matter what i do i always have a part who isn't sticking to the bed, like something scrathing it while printing . IT ain't the probe, i check.

CAn i have some help here?

Crashes are hard to diagnose: good high res photos are often needed to even make suggestions.

The pad not sticking is almost always oils on the PEI sheet.  Soap and water; or gloves and alcohol wash.

Could also be your Live-Z value looks a bit off; normally you want the strands of a test pad to be welded.

Thank you Tim! I clean my plate with acetone and i also change the pla. For some reason, the pla from prusa didn't work with my printer!

i know it seems like acetone and IPA would be better than plain soap and water, but, nothing gets surface finger oils off the sheet than a good washing ith plain dish detergent and lots of water with clean paper towels . never use a used dish sponge or dish towel

Since you mention Acetone - don't use it on the textured sheet. Ever.

RE: first layer issue

The issue with the textured sheet is that it is first primed, then coated with the texture material then I believe a final coating of PEI.

This can lead to micro voids in the surface which may not have a protective PEI coating and liquids can get in and start damaging the underlying primer coating, especially acetone. This can lead to pieces of the texture material coming away.

Smooth PEI is exactly that, smooth, continuous and no voids, and even this can get damaged to acetone, but only the very surface layer.

Normal people believe that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Engineers believe that if it ain’t broke, it doesn’t have enough features yet.
