Filament cut off issue
I am adding a MMU upgrade to my printer. The issue is that the filament end is not being cut on start up.
The filament cut off blade can not be clamped to the selector-finda in such a way to keep it from jamming during the cut off . The cutout in the selector-finda is not deep enough to keep the blade from twisting even after being clamped very tightly. I have fixed this more than half a dozen times and the same thing keeps on happening.
It looks like its a print/design issue with the supplied selector-finda.
Please help this is getting to be a big pain.
RE: Filament cut off issue
Just leave the blade out. It's not currently enabled in firmware and causes more grief than it solves. For me all it's done is sliced a nice line down the center of the part it travels over.
RE: Filament cut off issue
Seems like the selector-finda would still get jammed when it ran over the non cutoff filament!!??
RE: Filament cut off issue
It should not be moving if there's still filament in there... blade or no
You probably need to check/adjust the FINDA, and/or verify your filament isn't getting caught before it's retracting all the way.
RE: Filament cut off issue
On loading the filament is extended out and needs to be cut off, if NOT CUT OFF it can still jam.

This behaviour is not implemented in the firmware. If you've enabled it yourself, you now know why it wasn't, as the blade gives more reliability issues than the occasional jam.
RE: Filament cut off issue
So how do i turn it of?
RE: Filament cut off issue
How did you turn it on? It is *disabled* in the firmware at current and not activated unless you installed someone else's modification or did it yourself.
If you did not, then you are mistaking a printer issue for a feature.
-> Check your FINDA and filament path/MMU retract as suggested earlier. the selector should NOT be moving if it still contains filament. If it is, something is wrong either with the assembly, filament, or behaviour of the printer.
RE: Filament cut off issue
the MMU should be retracting about 20mm of filament after the end passes the Finda sensor so that the end of the filament is between the bondtechs and the port going to the selector - nothing should be showing at any of the 5 filament ports after all 5 are loaded
RE: Filament cut off issue
So what does it do when they unload?
