Excessive stringing
I have a mk3s. When I print pla, for example, I have excessive stringing. I tried printing the test objects with given gcode, tried to modify the temperature, the retraction distance and speed (put it to 2mm and 40-50mm/s, tried the firmware retraction, and I still have excessive stringing. What shall I do?

Hi Daniel,
stringing can be caused from older spools of PLA that got a little humid over time.
Do you have same issues with a fresh spool of filament? If no, try to dry your PLA in the oven for a couple of hours. Guides to that are all over the internet. If yes we may need to dig deeper.

I tried with different pla, and it's the same result. Does the heatbreak play a role in this, as I have changed it? On my other 3d printer, a somewhat customised ctc pro B, I never had such a problem.

Have you ever tried disabling z-hop?

Printer Settings → Extruder → Retraction → Lift Z
Set it to 0 to disable z-hop.

I tried, the stringing is less, but has not totally disappeared. But I have more stringing depending on the side of the object I print. The less in front, some more on right and left sides, and the most on back.

Sounds like the print fan's the culprit. Maybe the fan shroud.
PLA should be cooled with 100%.

It's the original mk3s fan shroud, and the PLA is cooled at 100%

Gere are, from rights to left, prints with full fan speed, half fan speed and no fan.

That does sound like your fan shroud is the problem. Try rotating the part and print to verify the stringing moves with the rotation, consistently bad to the rear. The good news is that the front is better, so that suggests the fan itself is working. Check your fan shroud alignment and verify there are no clogs or crud inside the fan shroud itself. You might try printing a new shroud, or have one printed in a suitable heat-resistant material.
