Difficulty with TPU

Hello,
I just received my i3 MK3 (fully assembled and calibrated from PRUSA) and it's great! Printed a couple of tests in PLA and I am very happy with it. Love how the bed auto-levels at the start of each print..

When I print TPU I get a good 5-7% into the print and then I have a filament jam. IT tangles up inside the extruder motor area. I have (with the help of Ryan Hill on the facebook group) gotten the jams cleared, and played around with the tension on the gears that pull the filament, but it has now jammed 3 times without a single successful print. I get anywhere from 5-25mm up in my print and then it jams.

Printing Sainsmart TPU at 25mm speed, and have had good success with an Ender-3 with this material and speed.

Thanks,
Scott

Re: Difficulty with TPU

Forgot to mention, I also used Slic3r and Simplify 3D to slice and prep and am sending to the i3 via an OctoPrint Raspberry Pi device.

Re: Difficulty with TPU

maybe go slower. I have gone real slow on my flexible.

some speed must be going too fast for it to get tangled.

Oh man, I'm already down to 25mm, my Ender-3 prints at 45mm (better quality at 40) but it does... Shoot, that is a bit of a disappointment, was hoping to be able to crank out more stuff in TPU faster than before, maybe I'll have to learn patience! Ha!

Re: Difficulty with TPU

is your hotend ptfe tube right up against the gear? that's something else people have done to help

Re: Difficulty with TPU

I have the MK3S, I don't think I see aPFTE tube, just the top part and a door that you open and I can see the gear on one side of the door and the mate to that gear inside. I don't think I see any tube...

Re: Difficulty with TPU

I think it still has a ptfe tube from the hotend.to the gear. seems like getting that as close as possible (I think people kinda "V" cut it, so it rides the extruder gear.)

here is a post from awhile ago, but it talks about everything that might matter

I get this with mine. I think its the filament. did lots of prints at 15mm/s all seemed fine every one started to ramdom fail. Got another mk3 built so ran it on that and first print was ok, but then all after failed.
Just ordered some new TPU to try again
