Creaking noise on x-axis

I'm getting a creaking/clicking noise on the x-axis. It seems to be coming from both ends.

I've tried changing the belt tension and re-aligning the pulleys, but that didn't change the noise at all.

My machine has the R2 (I think) parts.

Any ideas?

Re: Creaking noise on x-axis

Is the right hand idler wheel, free to rotate, sometimes the bearing bolt is tightened too much...

is the left hand drive wheel on the correct way round,,, (Clampin g hub to the outside of the shaft (Sort of wrong way to what you would expect)

is the bearing in the idler good, if it's bad, the hub of the bearing tries to rotate on the mounting screw and causes shock waves to run down the belt, which could make it sound like the motor end is making a noise too...

if these fail to identify a problem, check the motor bearings

Video is at

In the video, I'm moving the x-axis via the menu to minimize background noise.

I've checked that the idler spins freely, and the bearings seem to be good (as far as I can check without fully disassembling).

Looks like it's the bottom bearing.

I took the motor off, and the noise was still there without any motor or idler use (also wasn't moving smoothly), and I found a small gouge on the lower rod.

Looks like disassembly time. 🙁
