Bad USB Cable in mk3S Kit?
After building my mk3s, I tried to update the firmware using Slic3r. All attempts failed with the cable included in the kit. On a desperate hunch, I tried another cable I had laying around, and it worked first time. Just an FYI for anyone else that might have the problem..

Mine is working fine - no issues here. Just made a Firmware update yesterday.

RE: Bad USB Cable in mk3S Kit?
I just tried programming an Arduino Uno with the cable, and it failed there as well. So, bad cable is the diagnosis. The rest of the kit was perfect 🙂

RE: Bad USB Cable in mk3S Kit?
interesting, maybe it is the same for me.
octoprint seems to not like the printer from time to time and usb connection dies, only fix is to power off printer and rpi
my workaround is to stick a small unpowered (didn't have a powered one so tried what i happened to have lying around) usb hub between printer and rpi and it seems to be a lot more stable.
must be some kind of usb issues.

Same problem here. We have 5 MK3S and one cable failed today.

You have to turn it on. So you have to do a full assembly, connect all cables etc.
After that it should be good.
