2 year old i3 MK3S+ lost calibration this morning,
I have an i3 MK3S+ that I put together 2 years ago. Up until this morning it printed fine.
As of today I've had a succession of failures related to calibration, particularly X going past the right end of the build plate (user's right facing the front control panel of the unit)
I've taken the following steps
- Tightened screws related to the X & Z axis
- Tighten the screws holding the Y belt
- lubricated the Z & Y axis shafts
- Updated firmware from 3.9 something to 3.11.0
- Tightened the X axis belt tensioner
- moved the PINDA down to be the thickness of a zip-tie (1.1mm according to my
Along the way it once passed XYZ, I then worked on calibrating Live Z. The 2nd time adjusting live Z using a calibration file, it went all the way right (X) past the end of the build plate during pre-build bed leveling.
What should I be doing to get this working again?
What should I be looking for?

Try a factory reset followed by updating the firmware and a first layer Z calibration.
Have you had any power glitches or thunderstorms recently?
Cheerio,

RE: 2 year old i3 MK3S+ lost calibration this morning,
@Diem, thanks for writing.
No thunderstorms but we did have a short power outage recently. I've successfully printed after that though.
I recently started using an enclosure to address pealing at edges of longer prints. That has raised the ambient temp from about 16 C-19 C to ~30.5 C (87F), which seems to help with bed adhesion and eliminating warping off the built plate.
I'll take the steps above and report back.
