If you want the dimpled finish like your printer parts, the textured sheet, otherwise, the satin sheet.

It probably depends most on your preference for the texture on the first layer, if that portion of your printed part will be visible during use. So you can use the textured or the satin sheet. For me they have behaved about the same for PETG so far. I mostly use the textured sheet, simply because I have had that one for the longest time.

The smooth sheet is not recommended for PETG, because you might even have problems getting the part off the sheet if you do not use some release agent like glue-stick.

I also find that for parts with a large surface the textured/satin sheets give a better look.

If you have to fit or mount the surfaces of several parts against each other, the smooth sheet is usually the better choice, because the fitment/tolerances will be better.

I use the Textured sheet for PetG exclusively. I just printed ALL of the MK45 parts in PETG, both orange and Black. None of the prints failed. Using the Textured sheet seems to be my best way to print PETG. PLA is done on a Smooth sheet, no problems there. PETG does not work well with  the Smooth sheet. Just keep that Textured sheet clean and it will give you no problems. This applies to both my MK3S+ and my MINI+.

I've had good luck with Prusament (and other brands) PETg on both the Prusa smooth and textured build plates.

I would suggest using something like Layerneer with PETg on both of these, both as an adhesion booster and release agent.

I've found that PETg is a good general purpose filament, but it does not do fine detail as well as PLA or ABS/ASA will do.

Buy the satin sheet then you can print PETG and PLA without any other aids .

I am convinced. Guess I'll have to go and buy some Satin sheets.

Thanks,

I have no problems with the standard smooth sheet. Sticks well.

Textured sheet is just so much more tolerant of bad filament and first layer issues.  I use the satin now when I have a print with a lot of small parts and perimiters, I go with the textured sheet. I hope the 3.9 and Mk4 will be more consistent with first layers…

Yes, that was a typo. Maybe I was just looking towards the future.
