Are you happy with the 3.9 or 4.0 upgrade from MK3S+?
Hello, I am considering to upgrade but worry about the print quality getting worse as somebody mentioned about unwanted vertical lines, ringing and ghosting. Does yours have these problems? In general, are people happy with the upgrade?

Well I have a MK4 and 3s+, and the print quality is much better on the 4. The .9 degree stepper motors make a huge difference, especially on circular profiles.

Thanks for sharing your experience. At 3:55-4:23, he mentioned that the new stepper motors cannot completely eliminate artifacts and they shifted the problem somewhere else. However, that video is 8 months old. Things might have improved. So yours does not have the problem he mentioned?

That was the alpha version of the input shaping which I never used. I waited for the official release
There is no comparison of the quality of the prints imo. The MK4 is better.

Here's an example. MK4 on top and MK3s+ on the bottom. Notice how smooth the MK4 print is compared to the Mk3S+.

I give the mk3.9 upgrade 4.5 stars out of 5.
I upgraded a mk3s+ with silver PSU to a mk3.9. I am extremely happy with the upgrade overall. The only issue I had personally was that the case at the bottom of the silver PSU interferes with the cable support bracket on the back of the nextruder. That only occurs in those edge cases where you have something getting very close to X=250 while Z at or near the build plate. If something overhangs in that region but is high enough, you won't notice. Easy to "fix" but it's an obvious oversight IMO.
That said, prints are better, even much better, on the 3.9. Maybe some of that is placebo, but the things that make me most happy are the SPEEEED! (Input Shaping) and the loadcell sensor. I love being able to just put whatever build plate I want on there and letting it eat. Prints taking half as long as my mk3s+ have me NEEDING another upgrade kit. This time I'll go ahead and do the mk4 upgrade in full with the new motors, but it's more a cost difference thought after the fact on my first one than thinking it really needs that upgrade.
