mk3 filament sensor on a mk2s

Hi all, does anyone know if the mk3's filament sensor can be installed on a mk2s machine ?

If so can you maybe suggest a guide on implementing it from a firmware standpoint ?

Looks like it can be done with a Pi and Octoprint.
