Mk2 to Mk2.5s upgrade without the mk2s kit

Hello,  I've had a prusa mk2 that i havent used for a while. I also have had a mk2s to mk2.5s upgrade that i havent installed, but getting back into 3d printing i want the removable bed for easier cleaning and different bed sheet options. I know the mk2s upgrade had new bearings linear rods and upgraded u bolts which i don't have. My question is will the mk2s to mk2.5s kit work on my mk2 or do i need to get additional parts to make the upgrade kit work?

Heres also the files im planning to print out of PC or petg but dont want to spend the time, filament to print everything and pull it apart to realize im missing something needed from the mk2s upgrade

RE:

you don't need the Mk2S Upgrade in order to go to mk2.5

Ideally the Fan Shroud should be ASA or ABS, or another high temperature filament!

Don't forget the endstop block... it is needed to operate the X Axis end stop switch, but people often forget about it!

Thanks for the quick response Joan! That helps so im assuming the mk2s's bearings and smooth rods are the same size. I know i need to buy 9 ubolts from prusa to assemble and i was thinking about getting the smooth rods but seems they're the same as the old ones haha.

If im already ordering the Ubolts is there anything else i should add to the order to update or upgrade the mk2?

I have a roll of polymax PC so i'll print the fan shroud from that but i was also thinking of printing everything else in PC so they dont creep like petg does in a heated enclosure.

Also you said you dont need to upgrade to mk2 first, but is there any advantages to doing the mk2s. I know they dont sell the kit anymore but if im not mistaken its just the smooth rods, u bolts and bearings that they still sell here right?

Hi Garrett

Prusa didn't recommend lubricating your smooth rods  and bearings, during assembly (Now they supply grease and a grease applicator)
If your Smooth rods and bearings are loose / worn / scratched, thee is a benefit in changing them

I Lubricated mine during the build and maybe 6 years later they are still good.

As far as the U Bolts are concerned, I Bought some, but never fitted them, a number of people who did fit them, over tightened them and damaged the bearings...
I printed bearing retainers and used them instead.

the cable ties work but bearing retainers remove the chance of loose ties...

NINE U Bolts???

Are you upgrading 3 printers?

you only need three U bolts for the Y Axis...     X and z axis use printed bearing retainers.

I am only upgrading 1 printer haha, i was thinking the x carriage needed u bolts but i guess not. the x axis seems good but the y axis seems not good on my mk2.

The y axis bearings make alot of noise think thats a bad sign but i never lubricated any bearings.

Did you print the bearing retainers for the y axis too or just on the Z and X axis? Also im not sure if the bearing reatiners for the X and Z are a file that comes with the prusa stl files or is there a different spot that there at? I appreciate the advice you've been very helpful

Is this the y axis bearing reatiner you swapped the u bolts out for?

No, those are not the actual ones that I used, however they should do the job for you.
