About nozzle length (not diameter!)

Hi,
I'm replacing the original Mk2 nozzle. Since the E3D Nozzle was not available with "next day delivery", I bought a nozzle from a different brand. However, I noticed that while the thread diameter is ok (6mm), the new nozzle is slightly shorter in length (approx 5mm vs 7mm). This means that I'm able to completely screw the nozzle inside the hot-end, but since it is shorter there will be a gap inside. Is this a problem?

Additionally, I read that I should keep a small visible gap between the hot-end and the nozzle. What is the reason for this? If I leave this gap the nozzle will be not tight...

Marco, do not use the shorter nozzle as it is... there must mot be a gap between the back of the nozzle and the heatbreak

and using a shorter nozzle reduces the efficiency of the narrow section of the heatbreak, probably leading to heat creep...

Are you certain it is a nozzle for an E3D V6 hotend? There are several varieties of hotend, and just being 6mm doesn't mean they're compatible. If you press forward with using it, you are likely to create a mess that may cost many times what you "saved" with going with the cheap nozzle.

Thank you for your answers!

Ok, I finally managed to replace the nozzle with one of the correct lenght. I screwed ant tightened it in as shown in your guide, keeping the small gap as shown in the picture. However, I noticed two facts:

- The nozzle is now oozing. Not very important for me, but I'm wondering why the previous nozzle was ok.

- There is a slight but continuous leakage coming from the gap on the top of the nozzle. I absolutely need to fix this because every ~15 minutes a drop of molten PLA falls down on the print, becoming a serious obstacle to the movement of the extruder.
I'm puzzled because it seems to me that the nozzle is properly tightened. Am I missing something?

Ha! Maybe I forgot to preheat the extruder before tightening the nozzle. Could this cause my leakage problem?
