What kind of problem is this print?

This started happening recently and I'm not sure even how to describe it. It doesn't happen on every layer and when it does happen the majority of the layer is fine. It seems to happen near that area but sometimes in another area. The layer right underneath in that section is perfectly fine. I have done this print yesterday with the same issue. A couple of weeks ago I never had this problem. Does anyone know what is going on?

I saw something similar to that on my print last night and then woke up to a horrible mess of filament stuck to the hotend/broke the PINDA probe 🙁

No idea what's causing it...my layers under that were good too.

Not sure but your nozzle cooling fan is the other way around ❗

Wow, so this entire time it's been sucking air FROM the nozzle! It seems to be working great like that but I'll switch it over when my current print finishes, thanks!

What material are you printing? The tears appear to be parallel to the print direction on that top layer

I would say, never mind? 😀
If thats the only issue you get pritning a huuuuge 24x20??x1cm big plate 😀 No warping, nothing else?

Secondly, why are you printing a huuuuuge 24x20??x1cm big plate 😀

It's Esun pla+ and you're right it's the print lines such that as the filament is layed down, that part seems to have a hiccup. Is it due to bad part of filament? is it due to something stuck in nozzle? I don't understand as it happened multiple times in same section. More tests have resulted in a couple of bad lines so it may be getting better. I just don't understand what to even call this problem.

It's 210x210x3mm for a game-type board. A grid with different color will overlay on top of this. Although there is not traditional warping, there is inverted warping. On the bed it's perfectly flat but when removed the center part bulges slightly. I tried higher infill, different patterns, same issue.

When I looked inside where the filament is gripped by the metal teeth rotating section I noticed it wouldn't rotate for a second every now and then. I thought that maybe the metal teeth section is loose but when I tried to tighten it I saw that it actually wasn't loose at all. So if that is on correctly what else could the problem be?

could it be a slicing issue?

Hi Ho,

it looks to me like short time low flow.
Im thinking about your description that the hobbed wheel some times is not turning.
If that is not related to the Model it might be that you are loosing steps in the Extruder motor.
There can be several reasons for that:
a) if the filament tangles and binds on the spool.
b) if the idler is not pressing the right pressure and the hobbed wheel "slips"
c) if the filament got "damaged" by often retraction and the hobbed wheel slips

Sorry that I can't give a decisive answer.
All the Best
Frank

I've printed the same model fine previously. The only possible difference in slicer is selecting "extra perimeters if needed"

Definitely not this as I was there while it was printing and there were no filament tangles or binds at all.

b) if the idler is not pressing the right pressure and the hobbed wheel "slips"

Not sure how to determine this.

c) if the filament got "damaged" by often retraction and the hobbed wheel slips

It's in the middle of laying down a long filament line with no retraction so it can't be that.

I'm printing it again after doing a cold pull to see. I'll try to take a video to show if it still happens. Thanks.
