Weird temp swings

For about a week I have been getting some weird temp values. It's like the temp will jump between 180-198 when printing at 205. There isn't any air blowing around the printer such as open windows or room fans, and the room usually stays 75F. Any thoughts on what would cause this behavior?

Have a look at the help guide: http://help.prusa3d.com/mk2-electronics/thermal-runaway-and-temperature-drops?from_search=14928072

Near to the bottom, there is a graph similar to yours...

Re: Weird temp swings

💡 looks like the thermistor has a bad electrical contact at the rambo or a bad thermal contact at the heater block.
or: your connection between power supply and rambo has contact issues (so that the voltage for the hotend is not constant).

Re: Weird temp swings

Couldn't it be the fan kicking in? Maybe a PID autotune could help this situation.
The E3D socks would also help.

Re: Weird temp swings

It looks like the link @PJR sent hit the nail on the head. I checked the molex connector on the thermistor and pushed it tight (even though I coudn't tell that there was any looseness) and on the next print the temps stayed normal. I'm going to do a little more digging to make sure this solved it permanently, but it does appear to be a loose connection around the molex connector by the hotend. Thanks everyone!

Did you really expect otherwise? 😉

Glad to have helped.
