Re: Weird Exterior banding any suggestions?

For me it seems it is something mechanical.
IS this the x or the y axis where the banding occures?
There has to be something where the movement stucks for a certain time.
If there is nothing to be found at the bearings, rods, belts and gears my next guess would be that the stepper-motor
at the corresponding axis may have some problem...
I know, it is a lot of work, but if they were mine I would change them back and forth just to check whether those blobs change
fro one to the other, too.

One more thought...
Change the position of your part on the print bed and check whether the blobs stay with the model or with the axis...

Totally get that... But, with our older one working flawlessly I would not want to take the risk of dismantling it and then somthing go ary.
The blobs do stay in the same corresponding spots. Say if I print 2 of the same model on the bed, both models have the artifacts in the same spots.

Then I would equip the "faulty printer" with the firmware of the working one...

The new printer did have the latest firmware installed when the banding initially occurred, so I rolled it back to the firmware to the one before the latest version and it still is occurring.. I'll have to reflash the newest version again and see what happens tomorrow. At this point I feel there must have to be something mechanical wrong but still not sure. Once again, thanks for all the help so far all

My thought is that something happens to the data from in between that it comes from your computer and is executed in the printer. First thing I would suggest is that you try and print from the other printers SD card to see if it is a problem with the card.
If it is not that, then there might be something that slows down the data ever so slightly or something so I would check that the cables from the LCD are properly set.

Aside from that, I'm out of ideas.

Thanks Sebastian, I will try those things tomorrow when I reflash the new firmware back to like it was and report back once again lol
