Warm z-steppers even when printer idle

I noticed today, just before I did the latest firmware upgrade, that the pair of z-steppers on my MK2 were warm. The printer hasn't been used in the last 12 hours or so, and the other steppers are stone cold. Any idea why these z-steppers are consuming power when the printer isn't doing anything?

Thanks

on the mk2 printer with the coarse thread lead screws on the z axis, the Z steppers are powered all of the time that rambo is switched on to prevent loss of synchronisation! between left z height and right z height

Hi; I have a follow-up: is it normal for one to be warm while the other is very hot?
