Sudden drop in quality

Hi I have just bought and assembled a Prusa i3 mk2s printer and for the most part its producing some excellent prints. The last few prints though, have come with some strange artifacts that only start at certain heights.

Especially this print which I have included pictures of demonstrates this. I did change the layer height mid-print, but notice how the top of the print has a very uneven perimeter with small lumps of plastic.

I'm printing in PLA bought directly with the printer from the Prusa website.

I hope some of the people here with more experience in 3d printing can give me some possible causes of this problem, whether it may be the slicer settings or some mechanical problem. I would greatly appreciate any suggestion and hope this is not too obvious a problem.

Re: Sudden drop in quality

There are a quite few things that could cause this. You really need to give us some more insight into your situation.

1) What temperatures are you printing at? Are you in an exclosure?
2) Have you tried some "cold pulls" or run some "cleaning filament" through the extruder?
3) Does it do this on pre-sliced files or only on ones you slice? (Trying to see if it is hardware issue or slicer setting issue.)
4) Is the filament free to feed into the extruder? Or is the spool have resistance (either in the mount, or tangle in the spool)?
5) What is the ambient temperature of the printer?

Any advices given are offered in good faith. It is your responsibility to ensure that by following my advice you do not suffer or cause injury, damage or loss. If you solve your problem, please post the solution…

Anton,
would you mind posting both your G-code & STL file? I like to test it here with my Prusa i3 mk2.
You seem to have similar artifacts on your outer wall as I do. Maybe its similar to my problem - I believe there are retracts at these locations which kind of cause some under extrusion.

Okay first of all thank you Aaron for making time to help me. I'm printing at 210 degrees C in an open space. I don't know what you mean by cleaning filament, but I've changed filament multiple times without problem. This particular problem hasn't occured on the pre-sliced files and as of now I believe the problem is slicer-related. I'm using S3D for slicing.

And to you stephan, thank you for helping me out as well. I will attach the files to this post and hope we have similar problems. I would be gratefull if you'll test it, but as I said I do believe it is a software-related issue.

I have to link the files since the file extensions aren't supported on the forum:
