Re: Spiral Vase problem

I use Simplify3D across all my 3D printers. It is the fastest and best full featured slicing program out there, In my opinion. Free is good, but often you get what you pay for.

I use Simplify3D with a Windows 10 PC and my MacBook Pro (included in the license)

Re: Spiral Vase problem

Printed fine how? In a normal slice? With which slicer? With spiral vase? With which slicer?

If you did use Prusa's slic3r did you do anything other than checking spiral vase?
Sorry, I had been talking about slicing it fine in Simplify3D but I hadn't actually printed it. This is Simplify3D in spiral vase mode. S3D did very well. There are three bottom layers then a continuous spiral from the base to the top.

It actually almost holds water. There are a couple of small leaks in the bottom layer and another part way up the side where a drop of grunge got caught. A little wax on the interior would seal it right up.

Re: Spiral Vase problem

So S3D does fine, but Prusa's software makes a tangled mess of filament?

Can anyone else confirm this? Can we report a bug?

Re: Spiral Vase problem

How does the regular Slic3r version do? Perhaps it's not in the Prusa changes but in the base code.

Re: Spiral Vase problem

Yeah, it is broken. Slic3r internally processes the vase mode G-codes the same way it processes the single wall prints, and then it post-processes the G-code internally to lift the Z axis continuously. The post-processing seems to be broken.

Re: Spiral Vase problem

The spiral vase mode is broken if relative extruder distances are allowed. You have to disable this feature, see the screenshot.

Re: Spiral Vase problem

We have a fix in the queue, so the Vase mode will work even with the relative extruder distances enabled.
The fix will be contained in our upcoming Slic3r release.
